Hello Lincoln Street families,

 

Welcome to Lincoln Street School! I am Dr. Sommer Grooms, and I am honored to serve as your principal. I have spent the past 15 years in education, working in both traditional and alternative education settings, and I am especially passionate about the unique opportunities provided through our parent-as-teacher model.

 

At Lincoln Street, we believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. Our role is to come alongside families by providing the curriculum, resources, guidance, encouragement, and support needed to help every student grow. One of the things I value most about Lincoln Street is our ability to meet students where they are while still challenging them to become increasingly independent, confident, and prepared for what comes next.

 

I earned my teaching and administrative credentials and Master’s degree in Education from Simpson University and my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. I am also a proud United States Marine Corps veteran. Both my military service and my years in education have shaped the way I lead, with a strong commitment to service, relationships, high expectations, and doing what is best for students.

 

As we continue to grow Lincoln Street, our goal is to provide families with a program that is flexible without sacrificing academic quality, personalized without losing connection, and supportive while preparing students to take greater ownership of their learning. Through engaging curriculum, enrichment opportunities, intervention and academic support, and strong partnerships with families, we want every student to have the opportunity to succeed.
